WINNEFRED WRITES

Ever since I was a little girl I have been writing and sharing stories. I filled up page after page with my elementary school handwriting the very figments of my imagination. Creating stories was a way to get my thoughts on paper in and give words to the pictures I was drawing. I still write today, and yesterday I saw firsthand the beauty of sharing stories beyond our own. It sparked an idea to start telling more stories through Winnefred Austin.

I believe we write what God is revealing to us. Today, I’m humbled to share the first Winnefred Writes – a new stream of stories seeking to shine light through everyday encounters with Jesus and each other.

I was sitting in church and looked down at my feet to see an Austin Tote (and it was not mine!) My heart skipped a beat. It was the first time I had seen a new face carrying Winnefred’s tote! What are the odds a complete stranger sitting next to me in church could have my company’s bag?! I had to give her a nudge. Little did I know, a simple encounter would bring so much more.

To the sweet customer I met that morning, you know who you are. Thank you for making my Sunday and reminding me to keep pressing in–without even having to say it. As a business owner, I am on constant outpour and it is my joy! But stress, anticipation, and pure exhaustion somehow never fail to seep in sometimes. What a gift to know these trials are nothing compared to the joy and strength from the Lord! Pressing in to my calling and caller provides comfort and renewal to press on. Hearing about how Austin Tote is useful in her everyday life reminded me of its greater purpose and mission.

Winnefred Austin is more than the products we make. I was reminded of the beauty behind every product — the very people who use them everyday.

The sermon at my church that day was about meeting Jesus. I believe we meet Him a little more everyday, and He brings people to serve as lights on our path along the way. Sometimes, they don’t even have to say a word.

Thank you for joining me on my first #WinnefredWrites. I am excited and hopeful for more stories to come soon.
