MORNING GLORY 29

Good morning, friends! We're celebrating two years of child sponsorship with Compassion. The weather could not be more different here than for our friends in Haiti today. I am overwhelmed with joy looking back at these couple of years and the friendship the Lord has provided across oceans and countries.

It's a "snow day" and I'm here for it! Now for Birmingham we have a good dusting quarter of an inch here on tippy-toes, which is more than we’ve had in a few years (and much much less than probably anyone else this week having snow.) But it's exciting just the same!! I felt like a little girl on an elementary school snow day. It took me back to making snowflakes with copy paper and safety scissors (quite a feat for a lefty!)

Have you ever seen a snowflake up close before? From a distance they’re tiny flecks falling from the sky. Each one swirls down looking pretty much the same, aside from slight size variances. But up close the details are quite amazing. Each one is crafted uniquely and beautifully. Each one is moving along its own path downward from heaven. Yet together when they gather on the ground, they weave into a white blanket. They cover every surface that sticks. Though each bit of snow is fragile on it’s own, together they are transformed into a new creation - bonded together by just the right conditions.

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. -Psalm 139:14 NIV

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! -2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT

For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, I am there among them. -Matthew 18:20 CEB

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. -2 Colossians 3:14 ESV

If snow can remind me of these verses, just think about you and me! Friend, we are wonderfully made, new creations in Jesus. When we gather together in His Name we cover His creation like a blanket of snow, though not quick to melt away because He is with us. Wherever we are - whether we live in Hoover or Haiti - He is the binding set in our hearts that keeps us together. No matter the distance, He is with us when speak His Name.

In every season - as we marvel at snow and wait for winter mornings to turn into spring - He is faithful. We can look to Him as our source of life no matter the weather. May it be so.
