JOYFUL HEART BLESSINGS 17

"They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. "Don't be afraid! I bring you good news of great joy to all people. The Savior - yes, the Messiah, the Lord - has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” -Luke 2:10-12

Big news can stir up big emotions. Maybe you could think of a few in your corner? Just like Mary and Joseph, the shepherds were afraid at first when they heard the angel's news, too. Again, the angel reassures them: the news will bring joy to all people! The shepherds were the first to know outside of the stable that the Messiah was born. The joyful news far outweighed their fear, and this joy propelled them into action. We'll read about that in a few days. As for us here and now, we have much cause for joy. Jesus came, and He will come again. What will you do about this joy today?

Let's pray together.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for bringing us this news about Jesus. I need it; our world needs it. Jesus Christ is born! This news changed everything. Show me how to respond here and now, and help me to share joy with others.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Blessing for little ones

Jesus, You bring lots and lots of joy. You love every girl and boy! Prepare my heart for Christmas day, and show me how to follow Your way. Amen.
