Don't be afraid. Found 365 times in Scripture, we're covered in this comforting reminder each and every day of the year. In Luke 1, we read the angel is comforting Mary with these same words. Her reaction to the angel's news wasn't unjustified. Wouldn't you feel shocked too? And yet, the angel assures her all the more. Mary found favor with God and His calling for her life was full of purpose; one that would truly change the world! In all things, we too are reminded, do not fear. The Lord has purpose for us here and now. And that gives us much cause for great joy!

"Don't be afraid, Mary," the angel told her, "for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name Him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord will give Him the throne of His ancestor David." Luke 1:30-32

Let's pray together.

Dear Lord, thank You for this precious comfort: do not fear. As you sent the angel to comfort and reassure Mary, I trust Your Word and Your presence to comfort me. Use my life and my story to encourage and comfort others as I run back to You, the God of all comfort, again and again. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Blessing for little ones

Dear Jesus, thank You for comforting me when I am afraid. I don't have to fear because You are always near! Amen.
