GOOD news on this GOOD Friday - - in moments when darkness surrounds and hope feels lost, we can rest in our hope found in Jesus carrying the cross for us.

Today I was driving home and got stuck in traffic. At a stop light, something on the shoulder of the road caught my eye. It was a man carrying a large wooden cross on his back. Dodging traffic and managing to keep his balance, he walked down the road. I’ve never seen that in real life before, let alone on a busy street corner. It gave me chills and made me think of Jesus on this day, carrying His cross up the hill of Calvary. And here was this man on the corner in Spring Hill, reminding us all of the incredible sacrifice and gift Good Friday brings us.

May we remember today and in everything that may come, new life and resurrection in Jesus is ours! Light is coming and it’s just around the next corner - - maybe through a traffic light or two. May it be so.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. Matthew 16:24 NLT
