02 JOYFUL HEART BLESSINGS
The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. -Isaiah 9:2
Just like joy, light is not limited to circumstance. It comes from a greater source. Jesus is the light of the world! He fulfills this Old Testament Scripture — first with a guiding north star and then with Himself. Darkness has a way of making light appear even brighter. There’s a reason bugs are naturally drawn to a light source at nighttime. Like a magnet, the warmth and life streaming from the light can’t escape their notice. Same with us. We need pure light. Jesus lights up our darkness, shining out to people desperately craving true, eternal, life-sustaining light. Where there is light, there is hope. And His light will never grow dim or run out! What’s more? Matthew 5:14 tells us we are light — like a city on a hilltop that can’t be hidden. With Christ’s unending light shining in us, we can live as lanterns carrying this beacon of hope to others.
Let's pray together.
Dear Lord,
This verse sparks awe today - awe of You in every way. These words point to our Savior King; the true Light shining out in a dark world. May this same Light shine out here and now. May I be a lantern, letting Your light glow. Let Your light carry on throughout this season and into the new year. Where Your light is, there is hope! May it be so. In Your Name, Jesus, Amen.
Blessing for little ones
Dear Jesus, You turn darkness into light brighter than the sun. I pray Your light will shine in my heart for all to see today and everyday. You love big in every way! Amen.
