Mother’s Day happens to fall on my college graduation weekend this year. It will be a crazy busy time of celebrating – – no doubt – – and it’s extra sweet to be able to celebrate my momma the same weekend.
This upcoming Mother’s Day I’d love to get into the celebration spirit by remembering and sharing some of my favorite memories with my mom. Not only has she been my biggest supporter and encourager over the years, but she is my right hand gal with all things Winnefred Austin too. A lot of our fun memories from me growing up took place baking together, so it was extra fitting to feature our Mother’s Day collection in the kitchen. After all, home is where mom is!
Chocolate is our absolute weakness. There’s no other way to say it, but we’re obsessed. Baking chocolate chip cookies is always a must – – but baking them before we eat ALL the cookie dough (don’t try this at home – ha) is a challenge. Since I’ve been a full-time college student, coming home is restful and a special time. One of my very favorite things to do in the morning is drink my coffee with Mom while she enjoys her cup of tea.
Sunflowers are a big deal. Mom and I are both Kansas gals – – I was born there! I have had a sunflower fetish since I was little. I remember one summer when I was growing up we had tall sunflowers growing in my backyard. Dream come true!! My sister and I loved helping mom plant flowers. (Except for all the earth worms – ha). I love this verse from Proverbs 31 – – moms are gardeners in so many ways beyond planting flowers!
